Church Services

We have different gatherings for the service of the church inspired by the passage found in Acts 2:42

They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.

The Church of God in Hamilton meets at Sheldon Gospel Hall every Sunday morning beginning at 10am. Our meetings take the form of the Breaking of the Bread, Ministry Bible Teaching, Sunday School, and our monthly Family Service. Prayer Meetings are held on Wednesday evenings beginning at 7.30pm.  Everyone is welcome to come and witness our meetings as we, together, take part in teaching, fellowship, breaking of bread, and prayer.

Information about each service is listed below.

The Breaking of the Bread

We invite you to come and observe the Biblical ‘Breaking of the Bread’ (also known as Communion or the Remembrance), as outlined in Acts 2:42.

The service begins at 10.00 am every Sunday and consists of the breaking of the bread and a time of worship.

After a break for refreshments, the church spends time together in songministry and teaching.  Children are invited to Sunday School for age appropriate teaching.

Bible Teaching & Sunday School

Join us at 11:15am for a short time of refreshments and praise in our main hall after the Breaking of the Bread.  Sunday School and Bible Teaching for adults begins at 11:45am.

Adult Bible Teaching takes place in our main hall following the praise time. This includes either a Bible-based presentation or an interactive Bible study.

Sunday School is a place for kids to learn about the Bible with friends their age in a fun and interactive way! Available for kids 3 and up, Sunday School classes are split into 3 age categories.

Juniors and Intermediates (Kids 3-9) learn about God’s love from exciting and interactive bible stories each week and enjoy a time of singing, learning, crafts, and refreshments.

Seniors (Kids 10 and up) discuss and grapple with Bible truths and how they can be a strong follower of Jesus Christ today.

Family Service

Every month we provide a time where all ages can enjoy praising and learning about God from the Bible, together.

This is family-friendly introduction to church. Held on the last Sunday of the month from September through May, each Family Service starts at 11:15am with refreshments and an opportunity to meet and chat with each other in fellowship.

There is an energetic time of singing with instruments given to the children to participate. There is often some form of craft or activity or object lesson meant to appeal to the children, and a way to remind them of the key message or verse from that day.

A different speaker each month will bring a short, engaging and family-friendly message from the Bible, usually part of a year-long overall theme.

Prayer Meetings

On Wednesday evenings there is a short Bible-based presentation followed by a collective time for prayer and singing.

These sessions run from 7.30 – 8.30pm.
